Over the past couple years, we’ve seen Telephone Town Halls become a communication strategy must-have for the U.S. House of Representatives to help elevate the dialogue between a Member and their Constituency. At a time when Members of Congress can’t always meet constituents in person, Leidos and Broadnet offer a virtual solution with Access Live™ events.

Our longstanding partnership with Broadnet will extensively benefit offices for two reasons:

  1. Superior Customer Service: Offices have the support of not one, but two teams to help carry out live, interactive, multimedia events that allow you to engage with thousands of constituents at once. Our team will do the heavy lifting upfront from booking and pulling a contact list to quality assurance behind the scenes. We make the process easy.
  2. Exclusive CRM Integration: After your event, we’re able to pull any collected data into your IQ system so you can conduct follow-up outreach promptly. You can also take advantage of having the data automatically attach to contact records so you can have a full 360 view of the constituent’s interactions with your office.

The Leidos IQ team takes a consultative approach when your office is looking to schedule an Access Live event. Our team takes the time to understand your office’s goals for the event itself, for example, legislative priorities, updates within the district or initiatives that the Member would like to share with constituents. From there, we’re able to identify the target audience the Member needs to engage with and identify specific subsets — from zip codes, age groups, new movers to the district to virtually any parameter you’d like.

To maximize your audience reach, our team has found three effective ways to increase event attendance and overall opt-ins:

  1. Member’s Live Page: Offices should utilize the live page (ex: <Member’s Last Name>.house.gov/live) because it offers a centralized location where constituents can go and universally opt-in to receive outreach. Promoting the live page is a great way to increase subscribers and notifies your opt-in list of any events on the docket.
  2. Live social media streaming: Facebook Live simulcast is bundled into our Access Live Telephone Town Hall packages. Your office will be able to garner those constituents that interact with your office via social media, so they remain informed.
  3. Pre-Call Reminder: Scheduling a pre-call allows the audience to plan ahead and associate the number with your office, so they’re more likely to answer your call when the event is happening. You can also notify the audience of future events and topics, and invite them to prepare questions to increase engagement.

Whether this is the first time hosting an Access Live Telephone Town Hall, or your office traditionally holds one each month – there’s a game of strategy to perfect. Speaking directly to constituents, allowing them to ask questions that impact their daily lives, having their voices heard –could ultimately change minds about legislation or the Member’s approval amongst community leaders.
